The final night of this years Fimucite is dedicated to Jerry Goldsmith and related works.  For part 1, Diego Navarro conducts the Tenerife Film Orchestra and Choir in paying homage to Alien movies.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Municipal Music Band play tribute to a host of tracks from contempary cinema.

Fimucite returns for it’s 3rd year running, and strives to prove that Tenerife is more than just a Holiday destination filled with Sun and Sand.

Fimucité itself is an International festival celebrating Cinema music.  With such famous composers as Joel McNeely (who has worked with such big names as George Lucas and James Cameron), Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, and many more, the entertainment is sure to be nothing short of spectacular.

With the experience of the previous 2 Editions and in spite of the crisis, Fimucité is back thanks to the support of our main sponsor, Cabildo de Tenerife (the island’s Government). If the first Edition was such an experience, the second one was beyond our expectations. These two years we have had the pleasure of bringing the best of film music’s magic and art to Tenerife. Tenerife is more than sea and sun, there is plenty to discover, and Fimucité proves it.

Tenerife Espacio de las Artes – 17th July – 19 July 2009

TEA are showing the amazing documentary of Philippe Petit’s tightrope walk between the Twin Towers in 1974.  Whilst highly illegal at the time he did it (and today’s equivalent would probably still be as illegal), many people regard his achievement as the artistic crime of the century.

Philippe Petit, who was by turns, a street performer, wire walker, fire juggler, amongst many other talents, spent a total of 45 minutes alternately walking, kneeling, dancing and lying along the wire that was strung up between the Twin Towers.

With interviews , archive footage and recreations, it gives you a glimpse into this daring act.

The film itself is in it’s original language (English/French), with Spanish subtitles.

TEA are showing this film twice daily, at 7pm and 9:30pm.  Tickets cost just 4€.

In the heart of Alcala, every Sunday morning, you’ll find locals selling their wares.  Everything from books to toys, and jewellery through to fresh fruit and produce.

The main reason I visit most Sunday mornings personally is for the range of books they have on sale there.

There is one guy taht has a massive range of books to suit all tastes – and I invariably end up coming home each week with countless more books than I can actually fit in my bookcase.

However, there are many other stalls there too, including a stall from one of the foremost dog charities on Tenerife, K9.

If you’re planning to stop off for a coffee or a snack when you visit, be sure to come early, by about 11-12, most of the café’s are packed with people resting after browsing the stalls.
